Lara Dutta gets Don 2!!

25 05 2010

Lara Dutta is the latest star to join Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2. The actress has been cast alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Rampal — all three who have been retained from its prequel Don.

And though producer Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan are tight-lipped about her role, a source revealed that the actress is touted to play a femme fatale in this slick-flick. However, whether Lara will be seen vying for SRK’s attention alongside Priyanka remains to be seen. A source said, “Lara’s not replacing Eesha (Koppikhar). She’s a completely new addition to the cast with an entirely new part written for her. But yes, the role will require Lara to learn some form of martial arts and she is very kicked about doing an action role.”

For Lara, it may just be a dream come true, as she had not too long ago revealed her wish of doing a hard-core action-oriented role. Incidentally, with Lara and Priyanka on board, the film teams two former Miss Indias (Universe and World, respectively) who had made their debut together in the 2003 Akshay Kumar starrer Andaz.

Bipasha has no issue with Aishwarya

25 05 2010

Bipasha Basu lost her role in Raavan as Mandodari (Raavan’s wife in the Ramayan) because the starcast is already top heavy.

Check this out: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Sita), South superstar Vikram (Ram), Abhishek Bachchan (Raavan); National Award winner Priya Mani (Shoorpankha), Govinda (Hanuman) etc.

TOI was the first to report that Bips was actually ready with costume and almost getting into her car to drive to Malshej, when she got unceremoniously dumped because it took the creative team that long to decide whether she should drive to the location or not. However, there are websites and papers still writing about Bips being dropped because certain members of the cast were threatened by her dominating screen presence. Now that isn’t true. Honestly, wish people would just let some matters ride.

Ash and Bips shared great vibes during Dhoom-2 and they are quite civil with each other. Bips is doing Dum Maro Dum that has Abhishek in the lead and though Bips is cast with Rana Dagubatti, she and AB Junior get along famously. So who is arriving at all these theories one wonders?

Hrithik said that the 140-crore film is his labour of love straight from the heart which has garnered good reviews outside India.

“To each his own. I don’t really trust them (critics). When I debuted in Bollywood they referred me as god and then after two years they said I am finished. So I would rather follow my heart and do what I like than try to please the critics,” Hrithik said.

Saif no make-up in next movie!

23 05 2010

While some 40-something actors are thapooing on the pancake to look younger, Saif is going the other way.

Whether this is the look for upcoming home-production Agent Vinod, or just personal style, it’s got us swooning. Saif is one of those actors who’ve found popularity for their looks, post 30. In the movies of his cub years — Parampara, Yeh Dillagi, Main Khiladi Tu Anadi — he looked too much like his mother for comfort.

But with this delectable Oxford professor look, he is far from feminine.

The long hair, scrubby beard, glasses have been worn by many, but only the chhote nawab would add the authentic touch of a kerchief in the pocket. If he’s wearing oxfords under those jeans, it’s an arrow straight through our hearts.

Shammi uncles a kid: Ranbir Kapoor

23 05 2010
Veteran actor Shammi Kapoor is a favourite among audiences for his jolly acting and crazy dance moves and guess what, the septuagenarian is still a kid at heart, says family member Ranbir Kapoor.
“Shammi Kapoor had a style of his own. His style was different and unique. After so many years, he is still a kid. Recently he has seen a lot of downfall due to bad health but he has not lost his zest for life,” said Ranbir, who is the grandson of Shammi Kapoor’s late brother, Raj Kapoor.

“He still drives his own car and takes his wife to Paris for holidays. He’ll be remembered forever,” he said.
