Neil and Asin ‘good friends’??? I am single:Neil

25 03 2010

After splitting with his childhood sweetheart Priyanka, Neil Nitin Mukesh is thankfully not doing a Devdas number.

His idea of getting over heartbreak is rather simple: seek the company of beautiful women to take his mind off the break-up. A few days ago, he went with Deepika Padukone to watch a film at Juhu. Last Friday, he was spotted in a suburban five-star restaurant (in Santacruz East) with Asin.

A source says, “The two looked very, very comfortable with each other. They came together, they left together.” Talking to us from Bangkok, where he is shooting for two commercials, Neil confirmed that he had gone out with Asin. He said, “Asin and I are friends. We’ve been wanting to go out for dinner for some time now. Last week, everything fell into place and it just happened.”

Is he dating the Ghajini girl, we asked? “No, baba. I am not dating anybody. I am single and enjoying my single status.”

And how does he know Asin so well, considering that he hasn’t worked with her yet? Neil replied mischievously, “Oh, come on. In Bollywood , you don’t need to work with someone to be friends with them. It’s a small world, yaar.” Talking about his outing with Deepika, he said, “She is a good friend and a co-star in Pradeep Sarkar’s film. She and I went to see Karthik Calling Karthik, where she plays the female lead. Big deal, man!”

Bipasha and Katrina told me to apologize:Neil

7 03 2010

“Never again!” Neil Nitin Mukesh shudders at the very thought of the way he was forced to misbehave on stage with Shah Rukh Khan — by Shah Rukh Khan himself.

Trust Shah Rukh to espouse irreverence. But Neil hasn’t been able to get over it. Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu were in a state of shock after Neil’s outburst on stage against Shah Rukh Khan at the Filmfare awards.

Two days after Neil told co-hosts Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan to just plainly and simply shut up on stage at the Filmfare Awards at Yashraj studios, the debate rages in the film industry. Was the well-behaved blue-eyed-boy’s aggressive impudence towards his superstar seniors on Neil’s home turf (he’s known as a full-on Yashraj boy) for real? Or was it just an act?
To rewind a bit: At the Filmfare Awards, co-hosts Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan decided to take on Neil on stage, riling him endlessly. The final straw was the digs that Shah Rukh took at Neil’s name.

“Neil,” said Shah Rukh, “Why do you have three first names and no surname? My name is Khan. Saif too is a Khan. How come you have no last name?”

Neil couldn’t take the slight to his family name. He not-so-gently reminded Shah Rukh that he ought to restrain himself because his, Neil’s, father was sitting in the audience.

And then, horror of horrors, he told Shah Rukh to just shut up. There was an uncomfortable silence in the auditorium.

Recalling the incident with an uncomfortable laugh, Neil said: “I’m still shaking. Imagine me telling Shah Rukh Khan to shut up! But I did. That isn’t all. At the end of the show I walked up to Shah Rukh and Saif and broke eggs on their heads.”

But relax. It was all part of an act. “It was all planned by Shah Rukh sir. I was told by the organisers, the Moranis, from beforehand that I was supposed to be part of Shah Rukh’s act. I was supposed to reach early and rehearse for it. But as luck would have it I had gone to town to pick up my parents and got stuck in the traffic. By the time I reached the venue there was only time for a quick briefing on what I had to do.” Shah Rukh walked up to Neil and quickly told him the plan on stage.

Neil was aghast. “How could I say shut up to Shahrukh Khan? I’ve never been rude even to my driver. But he insisted. He also told me to throw eggs at him and Saif at the end of the show. I begged and pleaded to spare me. But Shah Rukh didn’t listen.” Neil did his own on-the-spot improvisation on stage to spare himself the aggravated agony. “Instead of throwing the eggs I walked up to Saif and Shah Rukh and broke the eggs on their heads. How could I throw eggs at them? Their fans would never forgive me!”

After the act Neil’s shocked father has still not forgiven his son, although he has been told it was all in jest.

Says Neil: “Bipasha rushed to me and said if it was an act then it was really scary. Katrina stormed up to me after the show and told me to apologize to Shah Rukh, at once.” Laughing nervously, Neil re-lived the trauma of being forced to be rude to a hero he worships.

“I’m glad people finally got to see my mischievous side… But no thanks. Never again.”

My Word: Give Neil a break..IT WAS A JOKE!!

Neil is Priyanka’s youngest husband!

23 02 2010

Priyanka Chopra plays an unique role in “Saat Khoon Maaf” – she has seven husbands in the  movie. While Naseeruddin Shah is her oldest spouse, Neil Nitin Mukesh has just been signed to play the youngest.

Neil’s character will require heavy physical transformation. He will apparently be unrecognizable on screen. “When I heard the script, I was zapped. This was something I had to do. I play one of Priyanka’s husbands, the youngest of the lot. The fact that I get to be in the same film as actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Mohanlalji was incentive enough,” Neil, who is currently busy shooting for Yash Raj Films’ “Lafange Parinday”, told IANS.

Except one, all the actors playing Priyanka’s husbands, including an unknown American actor, have been finalised. The actor starts shooting for “Saat Khoon Maaf” from April. “I’ve a somewhat crowded date diary this year. I join  Abbas-Mustan from June to December for ‘Italian Job’,” said Neil who recently moved to Powai to be near Yash Raj Studios to avoid the daily traffic to and from South Mumbai. “The traffic on that side of town is just as bad. It’s excruciating to travel even from Powai to Yash Raj Studios. On Thursday I had a day off and I invited my mom over to do up my new home the way I wanted it.”

Neil, who has been a part of a joint family all his life, says he has no time to miss his family in Powai. “Because I use that old flat of ours only to sleep alone!”

Deepika and I vibe well: Neil Niten Mukesh

18 01 2010

Neil and Deepika have rehearsed their parts for as long as a month. And now, Neil is so excited that he can’t wait for her to join the shoot.

“Deepika and I vibe very well. I’ve known her from the time she was seeing Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika and I have been rehearsing rigorously for this film for one month. She’s a lovely co-star. I’m looking forward to working with her as she starts shooting at the end of January,” Neil is quoted as saying by a news agency.

In the movie Neil plays a biker who does dangerous stunts. However, the actor is keeping tightlipped because he’s bound by a contract.

“I’m not telling you anything beyond the fact that our film is at the moment titled Production No 37… And yes, if my parents hear about me doing dangerous stunts they’ll freak out,” Neil said.

Neil has been shooting on the Mumbai streets for the last few nights. In fact, he was nearly mobbed by hundreds of fans during the shoot.

“Luckily, Yashraj’s security arrangements are impeccable. We never knew there would be so many people on the streets post-midnight. Mumbai in the dead of the night was a new experience for me,” Neil revealed.

This is Neil’s second film with the banner after the hit  New York last year.
