Imran follows Aamir!

10 06 2010

Talking about movie promotions, Imran Khan is definitely following his mamoo’s footsteps. He gives his heart and soul to his roles, alright. But it doesn’t end with that.

He knows it’s crucial to be seen and heard at the right time. And for the right reasons, of course. Yep, Imran is willing to do anything it takes to give I Hate Luv Storys a lavish publicity.

Well, a little extra push never hurts, does it? He’s shooting in Mauritius for Kunal Kohli’s movie, but he will be heading back home soon to catch up with the promotions of his new release.

He has promised to give at least 14-15 hours for any activity related to the movie. Wonder if the boy is seeking marketing genius, aka mamoo’s expert advice. Well, it seems like he will do anything to make this love story work. Imran’s rivals might, but we’re not gonna hate him for that ever. So go on, boy…

Imran to compile book on Salman!

16 05 2010

Aamir Khan loves Salman Khan unconditionally. And, in Aamir’s footsteps is his nephew, Imran Khan, who recently confessed that he is “crazy about bhai”. Just the other day Imran was giving interviews for Karan Johar’s I Hate Luv Stories at a Bandra studio. Salman was expected to arrive for the shooting of Dabangg on the next set. Though he was neck-deep in work, Imran asked his valet to keep an eye out for “bhai’s car”.

“The moment bhai arrives, I would like to go down and say hello to him,” said Imran. Gushing uncontrollably about his fondness for Salman, Imran added, “I have idolised him since my childhood. I remember my mother pointing out to Salman years ago and telling me, ‘That is Salim saab’s son.’ Salman was a dude even then.”

Admitting that he doesn’t exactly know what it is about Bollywood’s enfant terrible that he finds interesting, Imran said, “For me, the man is a mystery that I am trying to unravel. In my head is a plan to bring out a coffee table book on bhai. I just want each page to have one small aspect of Salman with exclusive photographs. I’m actually gathering different accounts on him from various people so that I can compile them to make my book.”

Imran has one desire. “I want to spend a night drinking with Salman. Unfortunately, at the moment, I’m on a super strict diet and I’m not touching any alcohol. But some day in the near future, I plan to ask Salman if I can spend an evening with him.” Salman’s not the only one in Salim saab’s house, who Imran’s fond of. He shares a great rapport with Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan who played his chachas (uncles) in Jaane Tu… “Ever since then, they treat me like their nephew. Whenever I’ve bumped into them, they make it a point to ask me how I am doing. Arbaaz asks, ‘How are you kid? Is all okay with you?’ I just love the way they make me feel,” he said, “ but my feelings for Salman are something else. I like him, respect him and I’m fascinated with him. It’s a heady mix.”

21 04 2010

As per the latest tabloids reports, Aamir Khan known as ‘Mr. Perfectionist,’ revealed in an interview that he considers both Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif as his favorite actresses.

In the interview Aamir had all praises for both Bollywood divas and he also said that he believes Bebo and Kat are two extremely talented actresses in the industry today.

Generally, the reserved actor shy’s away from media and tries his best not to answer questions that are not related to the event he’s attending at that point of time. However, this time he pleasantly shocked the media with the open praise.

Aamir full of praises for the ladies
Reportedly, Aamir and Kareena Kapoor became quite good friends on the sets of the film ‘3 Idiots.’ After witnessing Bebo’s dedication and hard work, Aamir was totally impressed with the actress.

Even Kareena is full of praises for the talented actor and leaves no opportunity to praise Aamir on his work ethics and professionalism.

As per Kareena, Aamir is wonderful actor, who’s always concerned about giving his best and making his character look authentic onscreen.

On the other hand, Aamir and Katrina, who have not done any films together so far, leave no stone unturned to praise each other. Both met for a photo-shoot that was a tribute to the legendary actor Guru Dutt and actress Waheda Rehman in the film ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’, after which Aamir got impressed with Katrina because of her charisma.

Aamir’s favorite actresses not quite fond of each other?
Aamir might have declared that Bebo and Kat are his favorite actresses but interestingly, tabloids are always filled with stories of how both actresses avoid each other.

Reportedly, Kareena is allergic to Kat’s name ever since media started to compare her with the foreign babe. It seems like the feeling is mutual as tabloids report that Kat looked extremely irritated when someone compared her to the other Bollywood ladies.

Presently, both actresses are doing their best to be the reigning queen of Bollywood.

Aamir wants to direct Kareena Kapoor!

21 04 2010

A source close to Aamir Khan reveals, “Aamir Khan wants to cast Karrena Kapoor in the next film that he will direct. He was very impressed by Karena’s work in ‘3 Idiots’. Their chemistry in the film was also appreciated by everyone.”

It’s Aamir for KBC!!

4 04 2010

It doesn’t get bigger than this. Aamir Khan might just be the next celebrity host on KBC

This could be the casting coup of the decade. The buzz in the television world is that Aamir Khan has been approached to host Kaun Banega Crorepati 4 which has had such icons as Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan as former hosts. While Aamir hasn’t accepted the offer, he hasn’t rejected it either, and as the buzz grows to a roar it seems the only hurdle still to be negotiated is the price.

Reportedly Aamir has been offered even more money than SRK was (Rs 75 lakh per episode) and once he sorts his dates out, the deal will be inked. The fact that Aamir is a newbie on television makes this even more of a casting coup for the channel that will ultimately air the show.

Says a source, “Aamir’s initial reaction was to decline the offer for the very reason why he was approached. KBC had already been done by two other superstars. He didn’t want to generate unnecessary comparisons. Also he had decided to set aside the whole year to put finishing touches to his productions.”

When approached, Siddhartha Basu, whose company Synergy is the licensed producer of KBC, the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire says, “It’s too early to talk about the next season of KBC. Sony Pictures, who now owns the game show, might have had initial discussions with Aamir. But the details for the next season will take a long time to formulate.”

While Aamir himself refused to comment, his official spokespersons neither confirmed nor denied the story.

If Aamir does the show, it will be interesting to see what phrase he coins to lock the answer on the lines of Amitabh’s “lock kiya jaaye” and Shah Rukh’s “freeze kiya jaaye”. His demeanour too will be closely watched. Will he be affable yet dignified like Amitabh Bachchan or chummy like Shah Rukh? Or will Aamir, who is unique in every possible way including making radical career choices, just be his utterly charming self?

Salman’s fan base shocking!

28 01 2010

Salman Khan is the man who is hugely popular. Agreed, that Shah Rukh and Aamir got extra taalis, but the catcalls went through the roof when Salman appeared on screen with some deaf and mute kids doing a very touching part of Phir Mile Sur. Like they say, everyone loves a ‘bad boy’? But is Sallu really that? Try telling that to all the kids that Salman supports and spends time with — there will probably be mob fury by little tots to protect their Veer. Wotsay Katz? You agree?

Thank you India:Aamir

28 01 2010

The actor blogs, “My cell phone kept ringing middle of the night. I was too sleepy to do anything about it except curse and hit out wildly in its general direction. Woke up in the morning to see tons of texts messages. Wondered what the deal was. It wasn’t my birthday or anniversary, or Eid or Diwali or Christmas. Read the first one and felt a wave of warmth pass through me. Padma Bhushan. Wow! Felt so happy, and such a sense of pride. How I wish I was back home in India. Called my mom, and my brother and sisters. But still felt a huge void of not being back in India. Don’t know how to explain it.”

He adds, “Want to thank my country for this honour. Vande Mataram, ma tujhe salaam. Want to thank all my well wishers, my fans, for their love, respect and unwavering support over all these years. Thanks guys.”

Peepli Live, from his production house, has also been received at Sundance. He writes, “Another piece of good news is that our film Peepli Live was really well received here at the Sundance Film Festival. We had our first screening on the 24th at the Egyptian Theatre, Park City. Super reaction right through the film, and huge ovation at the end. Audience really seemed to love it.”

He says, “I was really keen to see the reaction here at Sundance as I wanted to get a sense of how a non-Indian audience reacts to the film. 90% of the audience was non-Indian. I am now even more certain that this film has the potential to engage a world audience. The big challenge, when we release the film worldwide, will be to get them in. It doesn’t have any stars, and is in a language that they don’t understand.”

Best of luck, Aamir!
