We didn’t teach acting to Ranbir:Neetu Singh Kapoor

3 05 2009

Here’s an interview with one of the biggest star in Bollywood Ranbir Kapoor’s mother, Neetu Singh Kapoor.

(IANS) Her son is a star and she too is making a comeback with “Do Dooni Chaar” after more than two decades, but Neetu Singh says that neither she nor her actor husband Rishi Kapoor has ever tried to coach Ranbir despite having so many years of experience in Bollywood.

“This is something that we were very sure about since the very beginning of Ranbir’s career. He has been doing his own stuff. ‘Saawariya’ as well as ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ have shown that he has been making smart choices and succeeding quite well,” Neetu Singh told IANS.

“We never thought of teaching acting to Ranbir. Whatever he has done, he has done on his own. Of course, whenever he has needed any help, we have always been there just like any other parents would be. But beyond that it’s always up to him on how he wants to interpret a character and portray it on the screen,” she added.

However, the family has been sharing a healthy interaction over the years as Bollywood has been a part of their blood.

“We do talk about movies most of the time and over the years whenever a film has released, regardless of which actor stars in it, we have spoken about it”, she said.

“It could have been a dining table conversation where we would have collectively critiqued a film. It could be positive or constructive talk about a film and along with Ranbir we have got into discussions around the way a particular scene unfolds or an actor performs,” Neetu said.

So which of her husband’s performances would she rate the highest over the years?

” ‘Chandni’ and ‘Damini’,” she replied promptly. “He has been very good in dozens of films over the last 40-odd years, but from the recent lot of his films, these two films are closest to my heart. These were difficult roles, especially ‘Damini’ where he had such a huge predicament to face. And he played this role to perfection,” Neetu said.

One of the popular actresses of the 1970s and 1980s, Neetu featured in a string of hits like “Khel Khel Mein”, “Priyatama”, “Deewar”, “Kala Patthar”, “Doosra Admi” and “Kabhi Kabhie”.

Years after her last big film “Yaarana” (1981) with Amitabh Bachchan, she would now be seen in “Do Dooni Chaar” along with Rishi Kapoor. What made her take the plunge?

“Frankly, there were offers over the years, but we all were so busy in our things,” she smiled. “Then my daughter Riddhima got married while Ranbir too began his acting career. This is when this exciting film ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ came up and I was game for the comeback. The film is a meaningful light-hearted entertainer where Rishi-ji plays a mathematics teacher while I play his wife and a mother of two grown-up kids.”

Directed by Habib Faisal, “Do Dooni Chaar” would be releasing in the latter half of 2009.

Ranbir Kapoor grows a beard!!!

25 04 2009

Ranbir Kapoor always say’s that he wants to reach new heights and be as great as his grandfather, Raj Kapoor.  So in Saawariya he dared to bare, in Bachna Ae Haseeno he kissed 3 girls, and now in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani he’s growing a beard!! Only time will tell what he does next.

Ranbir Kapoor will don the look of a Sikh in Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti, opposite Katrina Kaif. “I am playing a Sardar in the film and have even grown beard to make my character look real,” says Kapoor.

He was all praises for his co-star Katrina Kaif who plays a shrewd politician. Kapoor asserts, “She is really hardworking and like any other Bollywood actress, she talks in Hindi even on the sets.” Kapoor feels blessed to have worked with “such a big star and at such an early stage in my career.”

Friends forever
Talking about his girlfriend Deepika Padukone, from whom the actor takes “suggestions on his looks, hairdo and films,” Kapoor states, “We do have conversations about both our personal and professional lives but the ultimate decision lies with the individual.”

On Imran Khan, with whom he reportedly shares a crackling chemistry after their pairing at an award function, Kapoor says, “During the awards function, we got to know each other better and our friendship has reached another level now.”

The two are considering projects together but nothing that he can talk about right now. A film production company with Imran is also on the anvil, Kapoor says.

Shahid says no to dance to Bachna Ae Haseeno track!!

9 04 2009

Shahid Kapoor ( the most adorable, cute, and handsome man in Bollywood..who should date and then marry Amrita Rao) recently saidd no to an offer of performing the title track of  “Bachna Ae Haseeno”. Why? Well we really don’t know..maybe he doesn’t want to, maybe he has enough of his songs, or many he just wants to do it his own way and leave Bachna.. to Ranbir??  Either way we’ll (I’ll) alway’s love Shahid. 🙂

Everyone is gearing up for the ever exciting, Radio Mirchi Awards 2009! With big celebrities and remarkable singers, Radio Mirchi is definitely an event to look out for. Futhermore, buzz has it that our chocolate boy, Shahid Kapoor was given the track ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ to perform on this elegent event. Bachna Ae Haseeno’s title track topped charts for a fair amount of weeks and not to forget, it is one of Ranbir Kapoor’s hit songs! However, Shahid simply refused to dance to this track. The only real reason suggests that Shahid did not like the fact it was Ranbir’s song. Moreover, could this suggest cold vibes between the two actors or was it simply just Shahid’s liking?

The Radio Mirchi Awards 2009 will be aired on April 12th @ 9:30 p.m. exclusively on Star Plus! So don’t forget to catch em.
Yeah don’t forget to watch Radio Mirchi Awards!! Love Radio Mirchi!!!

Happy Birthday Bipasha Basu!!!!!!!!!!!

7 01 2009

And somehow, despite churning out fewer hits and more misses, the actress, who entered filmdom in 2001, has managed to constantly hog the limelight in the year that went past, thanks to her oomph factor.

Her share of success in 2008 came with films like Race and Bachna Ae Haseeno. And now, she’s ready to break away from conventional bimbette roles and taking on challenging roles. In Lamhaa, for instance, Bipasha is all set to change the dynamics of physical appearances of a Kashmiri girl.

“When you think of a Kashmiri girl, especially in our movies, what comes to mind is a fair-skinned, light-eyed girl. But I want to disprove that myth. The pre-conceived notions have to be overcome,” says Bipasha. The actress is bent on putting together a convincing act and had even invited a Kashmiri woman to Mumbai in order to study her body language, speech patterns and mannerisms. “I think I’m going to be more keen on getting it right than the director. I’ve never done a film like this  before. The role requires me to be someone else altogether. And for this, I needed help. I wanted to play the character the way girls really are today in Kashmir. Very simple,” explains the actress.

Unlike other actors, Bipasha is not very keen to try her luck in Hollywood. “I found out that I will have to start again there, from scratch, like screen tests and other tantrums. They treat you like a newcomer. So I’ve decided to stay in Mumbai and be the ‘queen’ here,” she had said.

And now, she says, “India is a very comfortable place for us because we have already made a niche here. So why would anyone want to go and struggle there? I don’t want to. I have gone through my struggle.”
Bipasha’s future projects include Aa Dekhen Zara (which was earlier called Freeze).

Happy Birthday Bips !!!!! WE LOVE YOU !!!!! 🙂 🙂
