Jab Imtiaz met Hrithik Roshan!

16 05 2010

Every producer aims for a cast and director that will deliver a blockbuster.

While there are no guarantees in this industry, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has managed to get two very bankable talents together. He has signed Imtiaz Ali and Hrithik Roshan for his next film, a combination that many producers have been trying to broker for the last couple of years. The film is scheduled to go on the floors early next year.

Our source said, “Sajid Nadiadwala is the biggest producer in Bollywood today. After Housefull, he will be making the Hindi remake of South superhit Kick starring Salman Khan. His mega venture with Hrithik and Imtiaz follows Kick. Incidentally, Sajid had signed Imtiaz immediately after Jab We Met and they have been planning the film for four years. Now, Hrithik has given the go ahead and the film will be the most expensive Bollywood production. The budget will be over Rs 100 crore as it’s a genre that has never been attempted before. It is a drama-based film and has its emotional moments. It will start as soon as Imtiaz is done with his film Rockstar with Ranbir and in all likelihood, the film will go on the floors in January-February next year.”

Even the parties involved are very optimistic about the outcome. The source added, “Imtiaz wanted to work with Hrithik immediately after Jab We Met. However, he went on to make Love Aaj Kal and now finally he is making the film with him.”

When contacted, Hrithik Roshan confirmed the news.

On the other hand, Sajid Nadiadwala said, “It is true that I am making the film with Imtiaz Ali but I can’t comment on the casting as of now.”

Katrina will definitely be in Dostana 2:Tarun

2 03 2010

Being in demand and in competition for the No. 1 slot in Bollywood, comes with its own headaches and, well, a fair share of heartaches. Katrina Kaif’s stock is at an all-time high.

After nine hits, she’s come to be considered a lucky mascot and now all the big  filmmakers want to sign her on in 2010. But… this demand is causing Kat more stress than delight, say trade sources.

Tarun Mansukhani wants her for Dostana-2 with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham, Imtiaz Ali was considering her for Rockstar opposite Ranbir Kapoor, Ritesh Sidhwani has approached her for Zoya Akhtar’s film opposite Hrithik Roshan and, Kat has already been signed for Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan opposite Akshay Kumar.

These filmmakers want to start shooting in April-May-June. Naturally, the actress can’t spread herself thin despite her wanting to be in each of these projects. And right now, Kat must be joining her hands in prayer and hoping that some divine intervention will sort out her dates diary.

Tarun says, “Kat will definitely be in Dostana-2, come what may.” While Ritesh says, “We’re working towards getting Kat in our film for sure.” But Imtiaz is reportedly looking at a new Kashmiri girl opposite Ranbir.

It’s hard to please Saif!

23 02 2010

Saif Ali Khan is a tough customer. One hears he has rejected at least a dozen scripts between the release of Love Aaj Kal and now. And after all this deliberation, the Nawab has signed Kunal Kohli’s next.

Everyone around Junior Nawab is heaving a sigh of relief. Says a senior actor who is asssociated with Saifu, but is staying anonymous on the quote because he knows Saif doesn’t like advice, “Saif is in the best phase of his career. He turns 40 this year and is in big league after Love Aaj Kal. He should be doing the maximum number of movies between 40-45 because it is an interesting age for an actor to be.

However Saif is so choosy, he has only green-lighted Race-2 and Agent Vinod. We are relieved that he has actually agreed to do a film.” Saif hope you’re reading this and will quickly sign on at least a couple of more films. Karan Johar, Imtiaz Ali, Vishal Bharadwaj and Farhan Akhtar will all be relieved.

Karan Johar seeking Imtiaz Ali??

22 01 2010

At a recent awards function, the former greeted Imtiaz and proceeded to ask him questions regarding his next project. The questioning went on for some time and later, Karan was overheard asking Imtiaz to work with him. The latter had politely answered all of Karan’s queries by then and couldn’t see a way out. Probably feeling cornered as Karan constantly kept up his refrain of working with him, Imtiaz saw no choice to agree to work with him in the near future. Now whether this jodi will work together or not is not sure, dekhte hain.

My Word: That will be interesting to see two top directors working with eachother!

Ranbir & Katrina to rock in Rockstars w/Imtiaz!

18 01 2010

They are gonna hit the screens together again! And this time looks like they are going to just rock, literally….!

Grapevines are abuzz that Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will be paired up again by director Imtiaz Ali in his next, titled ‘Rock Star.’

Rumours have it the male lead role was first offered to John Abraham and later to Saif Ali Khan. But finally things landed up in Ranbir’s favour. It is also said that Rishi Kapoor, who did Love Aaj Kal with Imtiaz, was quite impressed with the director that he wanted him to work with Ranbir.

Few months back Imtiaz and Ranbir had met several times and discussed different projects. But it was ‘Rock Star’ that Ranbir liked the best, added the sources.

For ‘Rock Star’, Ranbir is said to be getting into the character in full gusto and would be even learning guitar, once he wraps up ‘Anjaana Anjaani.’

Imtiaz to direct Ranbir Kapoor!

11 11 2009

Ranbir Kapoor has arrived with a bang! First, WAKE UP SID made people notice his abilities as an actor and cultivated a strong fan-base for him. Now, the stupendous business of AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI has made people realize that Ranbir has it all to be the next superstar. In fact, Ranbir has joined the Premier Club, hobnobbing with SRK, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor, whose films have, consistently, opened very well at the ticket window.

The latest news doing the rounds of the industry is, Imtiaz Ali, the celebrated director of JAB WE MET and LOVE AAJ KAL, has signed Ranbir for his next film, which will be produced by the Mehtas of Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision.

“I am still deciding on the story of my next film,” Imtiaz informs me, “Sure, I did meet Ranbir earlier. I met him recently too. But till I lock the story, I wouldn’t be able to confirm whether or not I am making the film. Hopefully, I should take a call soon.”
