Happy Birthday to SONAM KAPOOR!!!! :) :)

10 06 2009

From Bollywood Entertainment I would just like to shout out to Sonam Kapoor “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!”. We love you Sona! ūüôā ūüôā

Today is the birthday of the most brittle and delicate actress who spells class with a capital C. She is none other than Sonam Kapoor, the darling daughter of Anil Kapoor. We are sure that after her superlative performances in Saawariya and Delhi 6, her house will be overflowing with gifts and bouquets galore. Amidst all these zillion gifts, Bollywood  Entertainment would like to gift the petite Sonam Kapoor with something that we are sure, she will treasure the most: A walk down memory lane with photographs to drip that eternal tear rolling down the cheek…

This snap has the ageless wonder Anil Kapoor alongwith the two apples of his eyes: Sonam’s sister Rhea and ‘badi didi’ Sonam herself! Who would have ever though that this ‘badi didi’ and also Papa’s girl will eventually go onto become the dream girl of zillions of people worldwide!

Not many know that Sonam, besides being a cool actress is also an intellectual person. Proof of which lies in the fact that she had enrolled in the United World College of South East Asia to do her International Baccalaureate. After that, she later graduated from the University of Bombay, majoring in Political Science and Economics. Not just that, before starting her career off as an actress, she even worked as an assistant under Sanjay Leela Bhansali and assisted during the making of his film Black.

Fighting with Bhansali was a mistake:Farah Khan

Farah Khan now admits that it was a mistake to fight with Bhansali!!

Director Farah Khan opens up about her infamous war with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Farah’s Om Shanti Om (OSO) clashed with Ranbir Kapoor-Sonam Kapoor’s launch vehicle Saawariya as both directors fought a duel at the box-office (and off it too). As Saawariya bit the dust, OSO had a two-week record breaking opening run. “At no point did I want to fight (with Sanjay Leela Bhanshali). Looking back, I feel that we shouldn’t have clashed against each other. I never wanted to get into a race and unfortunately it turned into a race. The marketing of the film went berserk — but you know what? We recently got an award for that. OSO has been named as one of the best marketed films of the decade,” she says, adding, “I think we would have got a better opening had I not pitched my movie against his (Sanjay). We could have got 20% more business had we decided to release our movies on separate dates.”

She says that she is never going to repeat that mistake. “My next movie (Happy New Year with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead) will not be pitched against any big release. I totally support the move that two big releases should not be pitted against each other.”

Speaking on the sidelines of Zee TV’s reality show Dance India Dance, Farah reveals that she is going to introduce another new face opposite Shah Rukh like what she did with Deepika Padukone in OSO. “It will be a boy this time. He will be my surprise package. I can’t tell you much about it because I have still not finished my script but this is for sure that the star cast will be much bigger than OSO.”

Farah also denies that she gave Kylie Minogue a taste of her temper when she was recently dance directing her for a music video of Blue. “Everybody is making me out like this nutcase who loses her temper at the drop of a hat. Come on, I don’t get angry all the time. Kylie is very sweet and I never had any issues with her.”

I always wanted to work with Hrithik:Bhansali

1 01 2009

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali says he always wanted to work with Hrithik Roshan and he’s doing exactly that in his new venture that also stars his favourite actress – Aishwarya Rai. The two have already created wonders together in Dhoom-2 and Jodhaa Akbar.”Hrithik and I wanted to work together for a very long time. I’ve always been impressed by his sincerity as an actor. I was waiting for the right opportunity to sign him. Working with Hrithik would be a new and rewarding experience,” Bhansali said. The director admits that Aishwarya is “special”, after having worked with her in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas.”Aishwarya is very special to me. She suits the role in my new film to perfection. When she read the script she was deeply moved,” he said.Bhansali also rubbished reports that he had signed on Pakistani actor Imran Abbas for his next venture.”I haven’t signed anyone called Imran Abbas. I’m not making Heera Mandi right now…I met him almost a year ago, but I immediately realised he wasn’t the actor I was looking for. Just because I don’t speak out, people take advantage of my silence.”He also maintains that he is still proud of his Saawariya, which flopped.”It’s my rarest work in terms of treatment.”

You continue to be fearless in spite of Saawariya?
This is the time when filmmakers need to be fearless and experiment with themes.¬† Fearlessness is my biggest asset as a filmmaker. I will continue to make films that come from deep within me. My very first film Khamoshi: The Musical didn’t do well at all. A lot of people think it’s my best work.

So are you as proud of Saawariya as the rest of your films?
Of course. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam or Devdas can be made again, but Saawariya cannot. It’s my rarest work in terms of treatment. It had beautiful performances and visuals. I tried to put a stage-play on film. Of course at the end of the day the audience decides what it likes.

So have you met Pakistani actor Imran?
Moin Beg, who has written Heera Mandi, wanted me to meet Imran. So I met him almost a year ago, but I immediately realised he wasn’t the actor I was looking for. Just because I don’t speak out, people take advantage of my silence.

Why don’t you clarify the misconceptions when they occur?
I can’t bring myself to become the master of sound bytes. But beyond a point silence is construed as a sign of acceptance. I don’t even meet new actors, musicians or lyricists. I’ve already decided whom to work with in my next project. And why go to Pakistan to get actors? We’ve very talented people in our own country.

There were reports that some actors, including Ranbir Kapoor, didn’t want to work with you?
People are writing tragic tales about me every day. They are even deciding what film I’m making and also casting actresses in them… Maybe stories about me sell. But when the misrepresentations go beyond my tolerance, it’s time to speak up. The truth is Ranbir and Sonam would be there for me whenever I need them. However, at the moment I’m making a film with Hrithik and Aishwarya.

What prompted you to sign Hrithik?
Hrithik and I wanted to work together for a very long time. I’ve always been¬† impressed by his sincerity as an actor. I was waiting for the right opportunity to sign him. Working with Hrithik would be a new and rewarding experience.

You and Aishwarya created magic in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. Time for a hattrick?
Aishwarya is very special to me. She suits the role in my new film to perfection. When she read the script she was deeply moved. Of course the true friend that she is, she told me she would’ve agreed to work with me even if I didn’t send her the script.

Will this Hrithik-Aishwarya film be your first for an international market in English?
But Black was also in English. It’s important for me to make my films for our market. But we must take our cinema to the remotest corner of the world. Today the spoken language is no barrier. The spoken language in our country is as much Hindi as English. I want to capture that feeling of everyday conversations.

2008 was a great year for you. It was the year when an Indian director was invited for the first time to direct an opera in Paris.
Yes, I had a wonderful time. I loved directing the opera. It was an exceptional honour and an unforgettable experience. I managed to write the script that I wanted to¬† and got the cast I wanted. It’s been a year of hard and fruitful work. And 2009 will mean even harder work.

Declined Dostana For Abhi-John sake: Aishwarya Rai

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Thursday said she had declined to act in ‘Dostana’, the romantic comedy with a gay angle, starring husband Abhishek Bachchan, to avoid the demand for a real life romance on screen. The former Miss World said she declined Priyanka Chopra’s part as audiences would have expected a romantic angle between the real life couple.

“The chemistry was between Abhishek and John Abraham. I did not want people to expect romance between me and Abhishek or get disappointed that I walk off with some other man in the end,” Aishwarya said on a query.

“This would have diluted the gay angle of the film,” she added.

Aishwarya, who is currently shooting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ravan’ with Abhishek and a Tamil film with Rajnikant outside Mumbai, was in the city to attend a promotional event of an international watch company for which she is the brand ambassador.

When quizzed about her future projects, the actress said she had signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film with Hrithik Roshan and is doing a film with Vipul Shah.

¬†Well I think Aishwarya did a good thing declining the film because she is right people would expect Abhi-Aish to be romantic. Priyanka fit better and she rocked! But I guess we can see Aishwarya with hottie Hrithik again for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s flick!
