Lara Dutta gets Don 2!!

25 05 2010

Lara Dutta is the latest star to join Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2. The actress has been cast alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Rampal — all three who have been retained from its prequel Don.

And though producer Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan are tight-lipped about her role, a source revealed that the actress is touted to play a femme fatale in this slick-flick. However, whether Lara will be seen vying for SRK’s attention alongside Priyanka remains to be seen. A source said, “Lara’s not replacing Eesha (Koppikhar). She’s a completely new addition to the cast with an entirely new part written for her. But yes, the role will require Lara to learn some form of martial arts and she is very kicked about doing an action role.”

For Lara, it may just be a dream come true, as she had not too long ago revealed her wish of doing a hard-core action-oriented role. Incidentally, with Lara and Priyanka on board, the film teams two former Miss Indias (Universe and World, respectively) who had made their debut together in the 2003 Akshay Kumar starrer Andaz.

I don’t speak with Salman:SRK

12 05 2010

He’s ‘King’ of the world all right. Shah Rukh Khan, who stands up for what he believes in and he is grateful, above all, for the success and support he’s got from his fans, speaks about his controversies in a more forgiving fashion.

Truly, he’s a bigger global icon than anyone else at this point in time – Brad Pitt included (if Time magazine is to be believed). The Badshah of Bollywood gave some memorable quotes in a question-and-answer session with Zoom recently. Some excerpts…

You were missing in action most of 2009, but 2010 seems to be the year of ‘Khan’…
We have to give other actors a chance. So I thought, let people make hay while the sun is away. I’m just kidding.

That sounds slightly bad…
It sounds little harsh, I guess. I do about two-three films and I like working more than that, but it kind of takes away from me as a person. But then there must be a reason. I must’ve done something wrong to get injured (shoulder). I’m overdone, with all the sins paid for. And thirdly, I got a chance to spend quality time with my kids. If I spend time with them now, they won’t be as whacky and bad as I am.

Farah Khan is making her next with Akshay Kumar. How much has that changed your friendship and equation with her?
Personally, it hasn’t. People assume this question will anger me. It doesn’t bother me. She has done a film with me. Now she’s doing one with someone else. I’m not going to ask her why she did that. It’s her choice. I don’t want to sound rude to anyone, but the films I do as an actor are the most important to me. I’m so caught up in this world of what I’m doing and the people who’re working with me. That is my whole social and professional life. So if you are not working with me, I’m not wishing you good or bad. But I wish her the best. She’s a great filmmaker. She doesn’t tell me not to work with XYZ actor, so how can I tell her?

How’s your equation with Aamir?
I think many a time, Aamir has misconstrued my sense of humour and now he has countered it with his sense of humour, and I respect that. But I’ve never had any ill-will or any disturbing fallouts with Aamir. I often find him saying things, of course, if it’s interesting, then it’s all right, because I too have a sense of humour. Also, it gives me a license to be funny about Aamir whenever I want. Earlier I used to call him and ask him, “Aamir, I’m making this joke, is it ok?” Now I don’t need to ask him. We can say whatever we want. He’s a marvelous guy, amazingly concentrated, conscientious, an absolutely focused film actor; one of the greatest of our times. At times we meet and call, and sometimes I go and watch his films. He is very interested that people see his films and talk about it. We have a warm relationship. But I don’t think we have an issue-based relationship. In the words of Aamir Khan, ‘All Izz Well’.

Have matters cooled down with Salman?
No, I don’t speak with Salman. And I think even he chooses not to; which is absolutely all right. We’re two different people, very happy in our spaces, and very good in our spaces. And I think it should remain like that. But it’s not animosity, it’s not anger, and it’s not disturbing. People ask if we avoid each other at public places; frankly, we don’t. If we do meet what are we going to do? I’m happy for his films and I’m happy if he’s at peace; because when I came to Mumbai, his family and he were wonderful to me and my family, and they still continue to be. They are amazingly nice and gentle people. Only two people amongst them have an issue and I think we’re too old and set to try and resolve it in any other way. Salman and I are settled ‘in’ our differences; we have not yet settled our differences.”

My antenna for love is on up:Anushka

8 05 2010

Anushka Sharma was linked to her co-star Shahid Kapoor during the making of their movie.

However, the actress has already denied those rumours. Anushka, who will be seen in Patiala House with Akshay Kumar, seems to be busy romancing Bollywood biggies on the big screen (she made her debut opposite Shahrukh Khan , remember?). So, isn’t love important to her? “There’s no time for love. Relationships require commitment. I’m too selfish at the moment to be in one. My antenna is not up for love,” she smiles.

Shahrukh can’t wait to work w/Bebo!

25 03 2010

Kareena Kapoor’s hard work seems to be paying off. And why not, for when her all-time favourite actor and co-star Shahrukh Khan has not just chosen her for his extremely ambitious action flick RaOne but is very keen to work with her.Not just that he is all praises for her. The shooting of the film is scheduled to commence from 24 of March in Goa. SRK exclaims tweeting, ” I haven’t worked with Kareena for many years now. I thought she fitted the role and it always is fun to work with a friend. She is quite awesome and one of the finest actors we have today in the industry. I’m looking forward to work with her.” He goes on to add in the following tweet, “I’m looking forward to the first schedule of the shoot at Goa inspite of the heat. And wish would impress people by turning up early on the first day at least.”

Shero No. 1 : Shahrukh to Priyanka :)

25 03 2010

In a recent tweet, Shah Rukh Khan called priyanka chopra a ‘shero’, a heroine who is as good as a hero, if not better…

What is Priyanka Chopra’s secret formula?

Feeling good equals looking good. And boy, does she look good! Hear from the star herself what keeps her twinkling so bright….

You are endorsing the new Lux Body Wash range…

Four products have been launched and my favourite is Soft Luxury. I am a big body wash user. This is the re-launch of the body wash range; Lux has had body washes for a while. I like Soft Luxury because I have relatively dry skin and it is an extremely moisturising body wash. When you come out of the shower you already feel very moisturised and you feel great. That for me is very important.

Who do you think can match SRK in the Lux tub?

I don’t think anybody can match SRK in the tub! Come on… SRK is my favourite, you can’t expect me to pick! I would only like to see SRK and I am so upset that I wasn’t part of that commercial.

You are glowing more by the day. What’s your secret?

I am just happy I think (laughs)! When you are happy, your radiance shows. It is very, very important to feel good to be able to look good.

Which designer are you wearing these days?

I don’t really wear clothes according to designers. I prefer to pick designers according to the clothes. It really depends on the event I am going to and what I am comfortable in at that point.

Any hand-me-down beauty tips from your mother?

Water and only water. My mom always spanks me into drinking water. It is also very important to use the right kind of soap or body wash because soap has a tendency to take away the moisture from your skin. I know this because I have dry skin. So it is very important to use a moisturising body wash or soap. Then, of course, moisturise as much you can.

Are you following the IPL?

I have actually not had the opportunity to watch as much because I have just been all over the country. I am really grateful because a lot of my friends are participating and are a part of the IPL. So if I started taking sides, I’d be in a lot of trouble! I am glad that I have not been able to follow.

Are you cheering for any team?

None! In fact, whenever there is a match, I am cheering for the team that is losing. I am always for the underdog (laughs).

On the film front, are you ready to kill seven husbands?

I am very, very nervous about it actually. I am just finishing Anjaana Anjaani. Saat Khoon Maaf is a completely different film from Anjaana Anjaani. So, there will be two very different films that will be coming out this year for me.

I’m rooting for Shahrukh:Kangna

21 03 2010

She neither follows sports news, nor has ever watched a T20 game. So, what made Kangna Ranaut go to Eden Gardens to watch SRK’s knights flight Dhoni’s kings?

You were recently spotted at Eden Gardens cheering SRK’s team on against Dhoni’s boys. What prompted you to go to the stadium?
The IPL fever is high and having never seen a T20 game before, I was quite interested in experiencing this myself. The event organisers had invited me to come for the match. I had the evening open. So, I decided to go.

How much of a cricket buff are you? Do you read the sports pages of a paper or rather follow the articles on sportstars that are published in the entertainment sections of newspapers?
Honestly, I’ve never been a sports person. My interests were always more inclined towards the arts — dancing, music, drama. I don’t follow sporting news either. But, I must say the match was very interesting and I found myself praying hard for Shah Rukh’s team, who I am really rooting for.

Do you understand the technicalities of the game? Can you tell between a third man and gulley?
I understand the game broadly and so can follow it. I understand how a batsman gets out, how runs are scored and the eventual goal of the game. But, the finer nuances are not something I’m so familiar with. I did really enjoy the match though I wish Team Kolkata had won!

With stars buying IPL teams, how difficult is the choice of deciding which team to root for?
I’ve not been following the matches per se or taking sides. But, I’m definitely cheering for Team Kolkata at the moment. And they’ve been playing so well this season. It’s early days yet, so fingers crossed!

Are IPLs also increasing the feelings of camps in Bollywood? Isn’t being present on the grounds for a particular star owner of an IPL team also an indication of who you are aligned to?
I have not experienced this really. I would definitely try and attend any event a friend invited me to if I did not have a prior commitment like a shoot or something.

There are matches being played in Himachal Pradesh. Do you plan to go there too? Have you ever played cricket as a child?
I have never played cricket, but I have heard that the Himachal grounds are stunning. I am shooting for six movies that release this year. So, it is an exceptionally busy time. I don’t think I will be able to attend those matches, but I would love to if I was free.

Cricketers today have a very hectic schedule with a lot of travel. Would you be game being in a relationship with someone with such hectic travel schedules? Or would you prefer someone who is more stationed since your own profession requires you to travel a lot and long distance relationships sometimes don’t work?
I don’t think you can choose who you are going to fall in love with. Each relationship has its own great aspects and challenges. So, I will take that as it comes and when it does.

If you are offered to do a film on women’s cricket, would the idea excite you?
I’d be interested in doing any good script with a good director, cast etc. It would really depend on the story. So, if it is a good script, sure why not?
