Link ups are fun:Vidya

7 03 2010

Vidya likes her link-up stories well written. Here is what the actress said when TOI caught up with her recently.

“When stories about my link-ups would appear, they would bother me. But there would also be times when I would appreciate the stories if they were written well (smiles)! There was a time when I felt I was out of work if I was not being linked to my co-stars!

But yes, I do like reading the Bollywood page and seeing the stories. And invariably it happens, that we end up believing gossip when it comes to other people. We always fall for that!”

Vidya is my competition:Deepika

27 02 2010

Hrithik Roshan makes an entry into the 55th Idea  Filmfare Awards 2009 with a kite. He says, “I’m promoting my film.” Hmm, well, we think you’d have scored if you had hottie and co-star Barbara Mori on your arm, what say?! For now, though, the ponytailed hunk has eyes only for his kite and remarks, “I don’t even know who the nominees are!”

There’s tough competition at the Awards and the nerves are showing for some. Says Deepika Padukone minutes before event, “Obviously, I would want to win, but if you ask me my tough competition, I would say Vidya Balan.” Dev D director Anurag Kashyap roots for Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey and 3 Idiots, “one commercial and the other off-beat”.

Amrita Rao is candid and believes only in backing the “Black Lady”! Dia Mirza is all for Big B in Paa and the movie 3 Idiots. She adds, “It’s tough as far as heroines are concerned, maybe both Kareena and Vidya!”

My Word: Deepika has all the right to think of Vidya as competition because Vidya WON the BEST ACTRESS AWARD FOR PAA  (55th Filmfare Awards 2010) Even though Deepika had great movies this year..she couldn’t beat Vidya and her performance in Paa (I have to admit, even though I’m not a huge fan of  Vidya that she was great in Paa!)

Please give me a Filmfare award:Katrina

19 02 2010

For once, diplomacy saw its defeat. Katrina Kaif surprised one and all when she chose Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan as the two actresses who deserved to get the Filmfare Best Actress award for 2009.

“If I had to choose, apart from myself, I would choose Priyanka or Vidya. ‘Kaminey’ is one of my favourite films . And I loved Vidya in ‘Paa’,” said the current toast of B-Town while announcing the 55th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009. “But why can’t I choose myself?” she added with a mischievous grin.

Besides Katrina, who has been nominated for ‘New York’, the other nominees include Deepika Padukone (‘Love Aaj Kal’) and Kareena Kapoor (‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Kurbaan’). India’s oldest cinema awards which is often compared to the Oscars, is scheduled to be held on the 27th of February at the Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai.

Dressed in a figure-hugging brown knee-length dress, Katrina further said that she would be happier if her movies win the award. “Everybody wants to win. But I would want my movies to win,” she said. However, she added, “I am happy being nominated. I don’t want to go through that nail-biting experience of whether I am winning the award or not. As long as I am nominated, it is fine. And I am more than happy to be part of the event than winning any award. This is my second year at the Filmfare awards and I will be performing, too,” said Katrina who was found adjusting her hair too very often.

When queried whether her beau Salman Khan comfort her, since he has never got a single best actor award in his entire career of over two decades, and nor has she. While nodding in agreement vigorously, Katrina’s spontaneous reaction to the organisers was – “So please give me an award,” amidst uncontrollable giggles. And the organisers couldn’t help saying that they should have brought a trophy for Katrina on the day of announcement itself.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Rai, CEO, Worldwide Media Private Limited, said, “I am really amazed that we have been doing this for 55 long years. Year after year, we have been celebrating and once again we will raise a toast to the immense talent of our film industry. Earlier, we merely had three categories and handful of fims. Today, we have 111 films vying for 37 categories.” Continuing the legacy, nominees were chosen through audience polls and the nominations were then whetted by a specially appointed jury for the final results.

I will never wear a bikini onscreen:Vidya

28 01 2010

New Delhi, Jan 28 (PTI) Bipasha Basu has done it, so has Priyanka Chopra and even Rani Mukherjee but Vidya Balan despite playing a bold role in “Ishqiya” does not see herself wearing a bikini on screen ever.

Vidya, who has been at the receiving end of fashion critics for her sartorial choices, has been sticking to saris in “Paa” and “Ishqiya” and she has been promoting her latest movie wearing bright floral saris, which are similar to her rural look in the film.

“These are beautiful saris, which were especially designed for the movie and the promotion. I am almost out of stock now. I enjoy wearing saris and feel most comfortable in them,” she told reporters during a promotional event here.

My Word: Nothing! I have not words!! 😉

Kareena and Vidya loving neighbors??

27 01 2010

Kareena Kapoor has a new neighbour in Khar, which is now turning out to be a fashionable suburb. At the corner of her lane stays Vidya Balan.

Yeah, these two actresses who definitely don’t think the world of each other have ended up buying homes in the same neighbourhood. This year Bebo and Vidya will be competing with each other for all the awards for their performances in Kurbaan/3-Idiots and Paa respectively.

Also. something tells us that a certain actor, who the two young ladies were ‘dating’ at a point, is one of the reasons why these two Bollywood beauties are indifferent to one another.
