Saifeena snubs Vivek!

10 06 2010

They say time heals everything, but some wounds are different. It’s been years since Vivek Oberoi publicly crossed swords with Salman Khan, but the awkwardness between them is such that people around them can feel the uncomfortable vibes even today.

Recently Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, who are otherwise quite pally with Vivek (especially since he was their co-star in Kurbaan), effectively snubbed him at a post award party in Colombo recently, which Salman Khan also attended.

A source who was present at the event reveals, “A lot of stars present at the after party were avoiding Vivek. But it was surprising to see that even Saif and Kareena maintained their distance, because they are good friends with him.

Since Salman Khan was present, chatting up Vivek wasn’t something anyone seemed interested in doing. Salman himself didn’t say a word or even look in Vivek’s direction, but the cold vibes were apparent.”

One actor who was present at the after party confirms on condition of anonymity, “It was very apparent that Saif and Kareena were avoiding Vivek. They mingled with Salman and everyone else but kept their distance from Vivek Not that they didn’t exchange pleasantries, but it was very stiff and formal.”

Neither Kareena nor Vivek could be reached for comment.

What’s brewing between Sush and Vivek?

6 04 2010

They’ve had their share of relationships but officially, both are single at the moment. So when word got around that Sushmita Sen and Vivek Oberoi have suddenly become quite friendly, it stoked a lot of speculation.

It may be recalled that Sushmita and Vivek were not on talking terms since the time Vivek was dating Aishwarya Rai. They studiously avoided each other at social functions and didn’t even exchange pleasantries when they shot together for Subhash Ghai’s Kisna.

A source said, “The thaw started only recently when they walked the ramp together for a cancer awareness show. And of late, Sushmita and Vivek have been interacting a lot. The discomfort between them is a thing of the past. In fact, they have become very good friends now,” added the source.

While neither Sushmita nor Vivek were willing to say anything, Vivek’s official spokesperson said, “Yes, Vivek and Sushmita are friends. While Vivek has pledged his support to Sushmita’s I Am She (a project to groom models for the Miss Universe pageant, Sushmita has extended her support to Vivek’s Project Devi (which works for underprivileged girls from Vrindavan).”

Vivek wronged Salman:Katrina

18 11 2009

In a recent interview with DT, beau Salman said he’d let Katrina “work with anybody except one idiot – Vivek Oberoi” … Katrina says, “I understand, and I wouldn’t work with Vivek Oberoi. What he said and did with Salman was wrong. If somebody hasn’t done anything wrong, in my opinion, I’d still let them be colleagues with me. But what Vivek did was genuinely wrong. ” Salman also called shaadi a formality, does she agree? “Indeed. Shaadi toh ek din mein hoti hai na, uske baad toh the same thing happens. So you better be enjoying what’s before the shaadi. Don’t think shaadi is a solution. ’Coz after the two-three days of partying – wohi same zindagi hai jaise shaadi ke pehle thi,” expresses Katrina in her improved Hindi.

She’s the net’s most searched personality, and dating one of the sexiest men in the country. But she says that she was an unpopular teenager. “Guys never looked at me. I always had crushes on older seniors who never looked at me. So, when I tell directors that I wanna play that girl who gets rejected, they’re like, ‘Why?’ I tell them it’s because I relate to that girl much more than being the girl who makes jaws drop when she walks into a room.” Is she serious? “You have to understand, beauty differs from country to country. When I came to India, I found my sense of belonging and appreciation. People thought I was beautiful.”

So how does she react to doubts about her Indian roots? She answers, “I just get upset because I’m an Indian and nobody has the right to question that. As Indians, we have that inherent sense of pride because we’re different. We’re not fair-skinned and all that. And for me, it’s like robbing me of all this when somebody says that. A red flag goes up and I get furious. I can handle gossip and baaki sab, but not this. I’ve faced that myself… I have faced the sense of not belonging in London. And people who are commenting about this aren’t doing it from an honest place.”
